Welcome

Our Mission

From its humble beginnings in 2013, as Karate Academy Capalaba, Nintai Karate has grown to encompass a strong group of dedicated students. The club is headed by Sensei Amanda Harrison, one of only a small number of female instructors under Gōjū Ryū Seiwakai Australia to head a dojo in Queensland.

The past 8 years have seen the development of three instructors, as well as an assistant instructor, and student numbers at our Capalaba Dojo reached capacity, prompting the expansion to a second location.

In 2022, we opened our doors to the Crestmead Dojo. This exciting venture allows for more training opportunities and the chance to welcome new students to our karate family.

Our story

Story

We opened our doors for the first time as Karate Academy Capalaba, offering 3 classes per week.

We expanded to 4 classes per week with the introduction of separate Junior and Senior classes.

We opened our new tournament training class, taking our total classes to 5 sessions per week.

In 2018, we reached our 5 year anniversary. The popularity of our Senior Class also saw the opening of a second training day and our 6th class.

In 2019, we welcomed our 100th student to the dojo. We also opened our fitness and self-defence class taking our total number of classes to 7.

Our founding students achieved the rank of Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) and took on the role of instructors.

We opened a further two kumite classes and reached capacity at our Capalaba Dojo.

We renamed our club as Nintai Karate and opened a second location at Crestmead.

We are a registered QLD Government Fair Play activity provider, parents, carers or guardians can apply for a voucher valued up to $150 for their child, which can be used towards sport and active recreation membership, registration or participation fees with registered activity providers.
